In this episode, Anthony Raimondi, a self-proclaimed former Mafia “enforcer” for the Colombo Crime Family, talks some about how him and his mafia associates corrupted the former mayor of New York City. Is it possible? Sure. t happens all the time. Almost every major city mayor is corrupted by organized crime, be it the mafoa of just your run of the mll white collar greedy scumbags. Raimondi sounds very much like he knows what he is talking about here, in terms of how it’s done. Does that mean it’s true? Of course. But he either did a LOT of research on how the mob does things, or he was around guys who did such things. Could go either way. But where I come from, Detroit, his process is essentially how it is done. An “asset” is cultivated. Usually a wealthy upstanding businessman or judge or lawyer. Then the family “sponsors” them and pays for their campaigns to get elected. The family then sways the unions to vote for him. Once in office, the asset is expected to hand over huge multi million dollar municipal contracts, everything from sanitation removal to road construction. Heafty kickbacks are made to the asset and/or his preferred foundation. Mob owned companies take possession of all the major municipal contracts. Everyone gets fat and rich. Everyone is happy. It works exactly as Anthony explains. BUT, that means nothing. He could have heard guys talk about it. Or perhaps read about it. Or, just maybe, he is being honest. I really don’t know, and once again don’t care. I just wanted you to hear his story and decide for yourself, since there are so many people interested in this type of thing. I for one am not. I just don’t have an interest in mafia facts, stats, and character. Maybe because I was around it all my life before prison? Or maybe it’s because I spent 13 years in prison? Or maybe it’s because all the former mafia guys I knew were bad people. And I like to pride myself as being a good person today. Whatever the case, I do appreciate that people have an interest in this stuff, and even in my stories. So I try to bring on interesting guests from that life, from time to time. But I won’t spend my days fact checking or reading up on them. Not my thing. I don’t judge either. I have had on numerous cooperators and never judged tthem. That is their burden to bear. For me, I am just here to share their story with a few people who may have an interest in such stories. I am Not a historian or a mafia journalist. I’m just a guy who hosts a show, a guy who happens to hav a little history in this subject. That’s it.
