#train #railroad Metra UP-North, Ogilvie to Clybourn – RIP Cassidy Tire Bldg, 1902-2022
It was built in 1902 as a factory and warehouse for the glass company Tyler & Hippach. When the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad built its Madison and Canal Terminal several years later, the warehouse was moved on log rollers 168 feet east and 52 feet south of its original location, to 344 N. Canal.

Of course, it did NOT escape demolition. It will be replaced by — another steel and glass residential highrise. https://chicagoyimby.com/2022/03/demolition-begins-for-344-n-canal-street-in-fulton-river-district.html
